The theme of the 2013 Wauwatosa Memorial Day Ceremony is “United We Stand.” It is with deep respect that Wauwatosapays tribute to our country’s men and women who have fallen in the line of duty – citizens of this great nation who gave their lives to preserve the liberties upon which America was founded.
The Wauwatosa Community Band will perform during this year’s Memorial Ceremony.
The guest speaker for this year’ event is Eugene G. Schulz. Mr. Schulz is a WWII combat veteran and author of “The Ghost in General Patton’s Third Army. This book is a poignant memoir of the published history of the XX Corps of the United States Army in World War II that gives details of his daily duties and life with the XX Corps Headquarters during the three years that he served with the unit. Schulz was an eyewitness to the first Nazi concentration camp that was discovered in Germany by American troops, the horrors of which are told in his emotional story in this book. Schulz's experiences and daily activities as an army soldier from this unit were recorded, kept in his diary and are now included in this book.
