PNA Rummage Sale June 3 & 4

The PNA Rummage Sale occurs the first Friday and Saturday in June.  For 2016, these dates are June 3 & 4.  The PNA board will post ads and place signs around the perimeter of the neighborhood advertising the sale.  Residents can register their address and the types of items they are selling on our website (www.pna-tosa.org).  Take advantage of the large crowd of shoppers that the sale attracts!

PNA Signs

The PNA Board is working with a designer to develop signs to represent our neighborhood.  The Association will pay for signs out of our savings, and the City will provide the hardware for mounting them around our neighborhood.  Keep an eye for these new features later in 2016.

PNA Social

On March 20th, the Board organized a social gathering at the Grand Hall at Hoyt Park.  More than 60 residents came out to get to know their neighbors.  Those who came out had a great time, and we will try to organize another social this summer.

2016 PNA Trick-or-Treat

It’s still months away, but as a reminder our annual Trick-or-Treat will be on Saturday, October 29th between 6:00 and 8:00PM.  As in prior years, the trick-or-treating route will move 3 blocks to the east and includes homes on 80th, 81st and 82ndstreets between North Avenue and Center Street.

McKinley Elementary School Brick Drive

The McKinley PTO is selling bricks to install near the 90th Street entrance to the school.  These engraved bricks will be available in two sizes, 4x8in ($27) or 8x8in ($52).  Please see the flyer on the PNA website for more information.

Tosa Pediatrics Movie

Tosa Pediatrics is proud to host another family movie night.  On July 14th, bring your chairs and/or blankets to the Tosa Pediatric parking lot at dusk for a viewing of Finding Nemo.  Everyone is welcome!

Angleman Foundation Run

Join Wauwatosa Families for the Inaugural Angelman Syndrome Walk at Hoyt Park on Saturday, May 21st at 9:00a.m.  Come on out to support Wauwatosa’s own Teagan Lane. Please see the flyer on our website for more information and join Team Teagan.

The Survey Results!

posted Sep 6, 2015, 8:34 PM by Wauwatosa PNA

Greetings,

The survey results are in.

1. The PNA trick-or-treat will be on Halloween if the 31st is on a Saturday. If 31st is not on a Saturday, our PNA trick-or-treat will be the Saturday prior to the 31st. Hence, trick-or-treat 2015 is on the 31st.

2. The annual rummage sale will be on the first Friday/Saturday in June.

Thank you so much to everyone for voting. Thank you especially to those who volunteered! This will not be the only time we ask for help. There are a lot of roles and we need everyone's help.

We will be contacting those people who volunteered for the board and halloween very soon. Please send an email to administrator@pna-tosa.org if you are also interested of if you have any questions.

Thanks!

The PNA Board

Full vote for the night of the PNA Trick or Treat

posted Aug 31, 2015, 3:03 PM by Wauwatosa PNA   [ updated Aug 31, 2015, 3:04 PM ]

We are sending out a survey to get input from as many PNA members as possible.  There has been a lot of confusion about the date for the PNA Trick or Treat event. We are trying to determine whether Trick or Treating be on the Saturday before Halloween (the 24th) or if it should be on Halloween if Halloween falls on a Saturday.

We have heard strong opinions from a lot of neighbors.  In the past the rule has been the Saturday before Halloween.  The results of the survey will serve as the guiding rule going forward.

To vote, please click on the link below.  Voting will close Saturday, September 5th at midnight.  The final date will be published on our website, Sunday, September 6th.

The Trick or Treat route this year is 85th, 84th and 83rd streets.  We are still in need of a Haunted Block.  Please consider volunteering for the Haunted Block.

In addition to setting a rule for Halloween going forward we are looking to establish a rule for the PNA Rummage Sale as well.

Please only vote once per household.

UPDATE 6/4 at 10:15 PM: Click here for the most recent list of houses participating in the sale!
(one last house was added tonight. Good luck sellers and buyers!)

The 2015 PNA
Rummage will be held rain or shine on Friday, June 5th and Saturday, June 6th, with the official hours of 8:00a.m.- 4:00 p.m. The PNA will place an advertisement in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and will also place online ads with various rummage sale sites. There is no charge for PNA members to participate. Signs will be posted around the PNA Neighborhood perimeter starting the week before the rummage. Participating members should use balloons, streamers or signs to distinguish their house on the days of the Rummage Sale. If you wish to be included in the Rummage Sale list, register online at www.pna-tosa.org (forms are on the left side) before 7:00p.m. Tuesday, June 2nd. The compiled list will be available for you to download, print and distribute if you so choose on Wednesday, May 28th at 5:00p.m. If you have any questions, you can call e-mail administrator@pna-tosa.org.

We also published the form for the Pasadena Neighborhood Association Helper list (also on the left side of the screen). The list will be published with a PNA Newsletter but we might also email the list to this same group. There is a question on the form if you would like to block your child from being included on the emailed PDF. I emailed the families already on the list and we only had one helper removed. Please utilize our neighborhood kids!

Halloween Trick-or-Treat 2014: Frightful Fun for PNA Families!!!

posted Oct 11, 2014, 8:28 AM by Wauwatosa PNA

The kids are back in school and that means it’s getting closer to the major PNA event of the year, our annual Halloween Trick-or-Treating event to be held on Saturday, October 25th between 6:00 and 8:00PM!!! Consistent with prior years, the trick-or-treating route will move 3 blocks to the east and include homes on 86th Street, Pasadena Blvd, and 88th Street between North Avenue and Center Street. The 2400 block of 86th Street has kindly signed on as the haunted block and the PNA would like to thank Amy Dedow for volunteering to lead the effort. We are certain that they will do a great job!

The key details:

·         Halloween Registration: Registration for trick-or-treaters will take place in front of Sendik’s, 8616 W. North Avenue, on Saturday, October 18th from 11AM – 2PM, as well as on Tuesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 23rd from 6PM-8PM. Thanks to Sendik’s Wauwatosa, for its continued support of PNA events.

·         Registration Cost: $4 per trick-or-treater and $12 per household annual PNA member dues.

·         Reimbursement for Candy Purchases: The new system of reimbursing households for a portion of the cost of its candy purchases remains in place this year. Participating households on the route may submit receipts for candy purchases to the PNA.  The reimbursement amount will be determined by the number of registered trick-or-treaters & the number of households submitting receipts.  Each household will receive the same amount.

·         Safety is our Priority: Participation last year once again resulted in nearly 1,000 children registered. Add to that the number of family members, friends and neighbors that walk along the route and those of you that are new to the event will appreciate that the areas can become quite crowded. It is very important for parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children.

·         Household Participation: The participation of houses on the route is the key to the event’s success.  Trick-or-treaters only come to your block once every four years, so we hope that you all choose to keep this great neighborhood tradition alive by participating in this year’s event! Remember, to leave your porch lights on so the kids and parents know which houses to visit.

·         The PNA Halloween event is a great community event and the highlight of the PNA yearly calendar, but we are always in need of volunteers. We need help the week before the event (registration), as well as on the night of the event. If your children have outgrown trick or treating, please consider helping as a “Corner Captain.” Although we can cordon off the Haunted Block, we are unable to close all streets on the route or provide security. Corner captains can help to keep this fun event safe. If you would like to help, please contact PNA President Jason Bott at (414) 270-6834.
